My name is Thom Cressman, and I am a metalsmith and jewelry artist in the Pacific Northwest.
I create metal art and jewelry that reflect the details and structural features of organisms around us. My work consists of both sculptural and wearable pieces. I explore the way that metal can be moved and manipulated to reflect these shapes.
My inspirations are drawn from the mycological and oceanic world. I’m inspired by the beauty in the shapes, colors, and textures that the life in these worlds display. I bring these features into my work by using metalsmithing and patination techniques to show a contrast of color and texture and create a piece of art that exists in its own space. I invite viewers to my work and have them see the natural world as I do.
